If you’re new here, let me introduce myself.
I’m Mark Wils, and I’m the founder of this newsletter, Creators Playbook.
Over the last few years, I’ve gone from driving a truck to being a full-time writer, but it’s a long story of figuring things out.
It all started when I was a kid. I would spend hours drawing, writing, and flipping through magazines.
I always dreamed of becoming an artist or having a creative career of sorts, but life had a different timeline for me.
Shortly after high school, I became a father and had to step into responsibility quickly. I needed a steady paycheck, so I took a job driving long-haul trucks.
It paid the bills, and I was happy to work and provide for my family.
But during those many long drives, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was meant to create for a living.
To keep my mind busy, I would listen to podcasts on everything from business to mindset, motivation, productivity, and the creator economy.
I really enjoyed listening to podcasts on anything about creativity or the creator economy. This drove me down a rabbit hole to learn more about this.
Then 2020 came, and like everyone around the world, I spent more time at home than I’ve ever done before.
This led me to writing on Medium, where I got my first taste of writing online and growing an audience.
Since then, I’ve:
Written on multiple platforms online
Built email lists and newsletters
Created and sold digital products
Worked with clients around the world
Turned writing and online business into my full-time career
